Anil Kapoor, born 24 December 1956, has been a fixture of Indian cinema since his screen debut in 1979–80. Over more than four decades he has built a career that moves easily between languages, genres and mediums.

His breakthrough came with Shekhar Kapur's Mr. India (1987), followed by Subhash Ghai's Ram Lakhan (1989) — two films that turned him into one of Hindi cinema's most recognisable leading men.

In 2008 he reached a global audience with Danny Boyle's Academy Award-winning Slumdog Millionaire, and in 2011 he joined the Mission: Impossible franchise in Ghost Protocol. In 2013 he produced and starred in the Indian adaptation of the television series 24.

Two decades on from his Hollywood debut, films like Animal (2023) and Fighter (2024) introduced him to a new generation of audiences — proof, in his own words, that the journey never stops.
